The web page you tried to access might have been trying to collect your personal information! OIT has blocked this website because it has been identified as a phishing scam. Phishing is the act of sending an e-mail pretending to be from a legitimate source with the intention of gaining personal information from the recipient. Many phishing scams urgently request you click on a link or respond to an e-mail and provide personal information, including username, passwords, social security numbers, birthdates, etc.
How to Protect Yourself
- Never reply to any e-mail message that requests any of your personal information (user ID, password, social security number, bank account, etc.)
- Don't click on suspicious links in e-mails. If you suspect the message may be legitimate, you can type the URL into a web browser instead of clicking on the link. OIT also recommends checking to see if the link in the email matches the link on the webpage.
